The majority of people utilize aromatherapy essential oils to promote relaxation and to help convalesce from a variety of health issues. The antifungal properties of essential oils are often overlooked and unknown.

Aromatherapy uses various scents derived from essential oils from flower and plant essences and is quite a complex discipline. There is much more to aromatherapy than simply smelling oils. Being able to understand the individual properties of specific oils and how different oils can be blended together to combine and strengthen the benefits takes time and practice.
Aromatherapy essential oils used for fighting fungal infections have been found to be just as effective as traditional treatment methods, but without the negative side effects. It can be used daily and continually, whereas many medicinal products are not designed to be used on a regular basis. Some pharmaceutical products will cause harm with prolonged use and others will become ineffective if used continually.
The antifungal properties in essential oils are so effective that these oils are often considered better than available over-the-counter antifungal treatments.
Myrrh Essential Oil
Myrrh is one of the essential oils to use when it comes to fighting fungal infections. Some have found it to be a successful solution to combat jock strap itch.
Tea Tree Oil
Another common fungal issue, Athlete’s foot or Tinea, is characterized by itchy, red, patches of skin on the feet and in between the toes. Tea tree oil is commonly used to treat Athletes foot and other viral and bacterial infections that occur on different parts of the body.
Tea tree oil is an excellent antifungal essential oil. Many people keep it in their cupboard to treat many different day-to-day health problems. It is not only used as an antifungal preparation as it is also excellent for healing infections, dabbing on cuts, scratches, insect bites and more.
Applying Essential Oils Topically For Fungal Infections
As a topical skin application is obviously required to overcome fungal infections, ensure that the strength of the oil being applied is of the correct strength.
Essential oils are rarely used in a pure or concentrated state, especially for application to the skin. If the concentrate is too strong it may burn or irritate the skin. If it is too weak it will be ineffective for overcoming a persistent fungal infection. When you are mixing your own oils your measurements need to be precise in order to achieve the desired result.
Since essential oils can be extremely potent, be very aware that even the tiniest drop can cause a great deal of irritation and pain if they accidently get into your eyes or other mucus membranes.
Be careful not to rub your eyes if you have recently touched any oils, as their volatile compounds may be present on your fingertips and will irritate and burn if you do touch your eyes.
Fungal infections can be embarrassing, persistent, painful and frustratingly annoying. When the right oil, at the right concentration is correctly applied for long enough, many fungal infections can be overcome using essential oils without introducing the problems that some pharmaceutical options may cause.
